Academic Honesty & Integrity

In 1995, the UF student body enacted an honor code and voluntarily committed itself to the highest standards of honesty and integrity. When students enroll at the University of  Florida, they commit themselves to the following standard:

“We, the members of the University of Florida community, pledge to hold ourselves and our peers to the highest standards of honesty and integrity.”

Accordingly, the College of Pharmacy and the Master of Science in Pharmacy program hold students, faculty and administrators responsible in maintaining the highest level of academic integrity and follow the provisions set forth in the George A. Smathers, Marston Science Library, Plagiarism Guide for Science and Engineering Instructors and Students.

It is the responsibility of students of the program to familiarize themselves with, adhere to and avail themselves of the rules, instructions and resources within the guide.

Comprehensive Final Exam

The Online Master’s program Comprehensive Final Exam (CFE) is designed to ensure the person receiving the degree is the same person who completed the coursework within the elected Program of Study.

During the final semester of study, graduating students complete an essay-style exam consisting of approximately 6-8 questions using a word processor on an internet-blocked computer.  Notes, books and other materials are not permitted.  The CFE is pass/fail and is not included in the GPA.

As programs of study are unique to each student, a copy of the student’s transcript to date is attached to the completed exam before being sent for grading.  Accordingly, to prepare for  the Comprehensive Final Exam, students should retain and review materials from the courses taken throughout their program of study.  Students wishing to form study groups may access  Elluminate rooms with moderator privileges for all participants at any time through the Sakai Administrative Site (program intranet).

Note: Because the program is structured in A and B terms, and Seminar/CFE weekend is scheduled mid-semester, most students will take the CFE before completing the final course in their Program of Study.

The University of Florida’s accrediting body, the Southern Association of Colleges & Schools, requires the Final Comprehensive Exam must be taken on campus in Gainesville, Florida.*  It is held three times per year (early March, mid July and late October).

Students taking the CFE meet at 8 a.m. in the college of Pharmacy / HPNP lobby and proceed to a nearby testing facility.  The exam is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Lunch is included (please notify staff of any dietary restrictions at least 2 weeks in advance).

Graduating students must register to take the CFE (and a minimum of 3 credits) during the open registration period for the semester in which they intend to graduate using the link provide – and – must apply for graduation through ISIS by the deadline designated by the UF Registrar‘s office.

For a step-by-step guide on graduation and commencement responsibilities and deadlines, and other important information, graduating students should reference the Graduation & Commencement page of this website before their final semester of study.

*Students who are unable to travel to Gainesville due to a documented and recognized disability may request waiver of on-campus seminar requirement and off-site exam proctoring. Proctored exams must be held on the same day exams are administered on campus. Because accreditation requires exams be administered by a UF faculty member, off-site proctoring is subject to availability.  Please contact program administration for more information.
